Today I have a very exciting blog about the 70 years of Dior exhibition in the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) with lots of pictures of the absolutely stunning dresses and outfits on showcase. (By the way, I did travel to Melbourne for a small holiday and even though I was planning on blogging about it, I was only there for a few days so I decided to just enjoy myself )
When I first entered the NGV and went to line up for the exhibition there was 50 people waiting in line to go in, that’s how popular the exhibition was! After waiting half an hour in what seemed like a never ending queue we finally entered a huge part of the museum which was lined with the beautiful dresses that Dior has produced ever since 1946! Every single dress was so intricately designed and some took hundreds of hours to make. I don’t think we, living in the 21st century where we can buy a dress for ten bucks at target realise how much effort it used to take to just make one dress.
So here are some pics of the dressess!
There were many different designers for Dior throughout the years who had very different taste in fashion and different aims for the fashion company. Some designers who worked for Dior are Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano and Marc Bohan.
So that was it! I had such an amazing time at the Dior Exhibition NGV in Melbourne as it really opened my eyes to what fashion was like in the 1900’s! I would to hear if any of you have ever been to this exhibition 🙂
