A Special Birthday Dinner and a Quick OOTD!

Hello my loveliessss,

A you could probably tell from the title of this blog, it was someone’s birthday today and to celebrate,  my family and I  went out for a lovely dinner! No, no it wasn’t my birthday, but my beautiful and caring mother’s birthday, who I love to the moon and back! We decided to go to one of my absolute favourite restaurants Bitton for dinner! I adore going there because 1. The food is so amazing it is not funny! 2. The staff are always really polite and kind and 3. The actual design and ‘vibe’ I get from this restaurant is outstanding!

While I was writing this blog, I thought to myself I a may as well write an OOTD so here it is… I didn’t actually wear this to dinner because in my opinion it didn’t look formal enough but I think it is such a great everyday outfit.

IMG_1730.JPG

I usually don’t wear chokers, but the dress and top came with it so I put it on and I think it really matched the outfit. Of course I had to wear my converse because I am absolutely in love with them!

IMG_1728.JPG

I chose to brighten up the outfit with a light green, embroidered bomber jacket.

So onto my super scrumptious dinner! As I said, we went to one of my favourite restaurants Bitton and my family and I all had such an amazing time. I ordered the John Dory steamed fish with potatoes and other yummy vegetables and I was not disappointed! The fish was perfectly cooked and was so delicious and tender!

This is what everybody else got: (by the way, the pics do not do the food justice!)

I am literally drooling at the thought of all the food 🙂

We had such a great time going out and my mum was surprised with delicious chocolate cupcakes and a chocolate fudge cake!

Lemonade Scones!!

Hi there,

Today I decided to post a blog about some lemonade scones I made today because I haven’t posted a cooking blog in such a long time. Not to brag, but these are probably one of the tastiest scones I have tasted in my life!

These scones are so easy and fun to make and only require 6 ingredients not including toppings that are all pantry staples. Also, what I love is that you don’t need any fancy equipment to make the Lemonade Scones as you only need an oven and a rolling pin. They also are super quick to make and  from getting out the ingredients to putting the first amazing scone in your mouth it only takes around half an hour. Oh, and don’t be scared that there is lemonade in the scones, you can’t even taste it!

Also, if you want a cooking measurement converter then click  here. So here is the recipe:

Ingredients-

  • 2 cups (300g) self raising flour, sifted
  • 1/4 cup (55g) caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) thickened cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) lemonade
  • 2 tablespoons (40ml) milk
  • Jam and whipped cream or you favourite toppings, to serve

Screen Shot 2017-06-18 at 4.51.01 pm.png

Method –

  1.  Preheat the oven to 220 c or 430 Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking tray
  2. Place the flour, sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Add the cream and lemonade and mix to form a soft dough. (do not worry if it looks crumbly and feels a bit weird, it just means you are doing it right)
  3. Screen Shot 2017-06-18 at 4.51.16 pm.png
  4. Turn out onto a lightly floured workbench and knead lightly until combined. Roll the dough with a roller to a thickness of about 2 centimetres or 0.8 inches.
  5. Screen Shot 2017-06-18 at 4.51.52 pm.png
  6. Use a 6 cm round cutter to cut out as many scones as you can, place on baking tray and brush the tops with some of the milk (you do not have to use it all). Re roll scraps to make a few extra scones if you can.
  7. Screen Shot 2017-06-18 at 4.51.31 pm.png
  8. Bake for 10-15min in the oven or until lightly browned.
  9. Serve warm with your favourite toppings (mine is jam and whipped cream!)

Before and after oven pic-

My Bucket List!

Haiiii,

I know I am practically copying every single blogger in the universe but… I decided to write a bucket list. The weird thing is, when I was younger, people would always talk about their bucket list and because I had no idea what it was at that stage I would be like ‘why on earth do you want to write a list on a bucket’. I went about that way for about 3 years before someone actually told me what it was.

So if you do not know, a bucket list is a list of hopes and things you plan to accomplish before you die. This is mine (in no particular order):

  • Go skydiving

  • Meet someone who inspires me
  • Learn another language

  • Learn to draw (well) because right now I can draw as well as I could when I was 7
  • Go scuba-diving

  • Run a marathon
  • Meet someone famous
  • Actually make a good DIY
  • Do a mud run
  • Go horseback riding

  • Try an extreme sport

  • Cook a three course meal
  • Do volunteer work in another country
  • Stop a bully
  • Go vegetarian for a month

  • Befriend a stranger
  • Climb a mountain

  • Own a dog
  • Be an extra in a movie
  • Dance in the rain
  • Binge watch a series (because that is what Netflix is for)

  • Have a sad movie marathon
  • Fall in love
  • Have an awesome comeback to an insult
  • Travel around the world for a year

So this is my bucket list and I will probably add new things when I think of them. Thank you so much for reading and if you like my blog please be sure to follow it!

Yesterday’s adventure in Newtown!

Hellloooooo,

Wow, that was a long greeting. Yesterday, I travelled to Newtown with my family to meet up with some of my cousins and we all went out for dinner. We had a really great time and I thought it would be good to share with you all some pics of the fun things we did yesterday. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to snap too many pics but here are a few…

Screen Shot 2017-06-11 at 4.20.39 pm.pngScreen Shot 2017-06-11 at 4.25.32 pm.png

These are two  pictures taken  outside my aunt’s apartment window. The first is  of the city and Centre Point Tower and the second is of the gigantic clouds in the evening sky.

The next few pics were taken at Hollis park in Newtown:

OOTD (Outfit Of The Day)

Hi all,

So originally I wasn’t actually going to make an OOTD blog today, but I thought it might be nice to try. I chose this particular outfit today because it is really really comfortable and I needed to wear something that I could walk around in.

Screen Shot 2017-06-10 at 10.29.08 am.png

The top I am wearing is from Sportsgirl and it is a simple black tee with a really cute rose pattern at the top. In my opinion, the red roses take this top from just a black tee to a super cute top.

Screen Shot 2017-06-10 at 9.57.51 am.png

I am also wearing a thick, fluffy, red cardigan from Zara that is so warm and matches the rose design on the top. I have shown you the cardigan in my previous blog,  5 current fashion favourites  and I can’t begin to explain how cosy it is!! I do wish that I chose the bigger size though….

Screen Shot 2017-06-10 at 9.59.36 am.png

I chose my black, high waisted, skinny jeans from Factorie because the top is quite short and I didn’t really want to show any ‘skin’. This is because it wouldn’t match the look and I would get really cold. I didn’t actually buy these myself, but someone I know gave them to me and what I like is that they are really durable.

Finally I paired the outfit with my classic, navy and white converse and the look was complete!!!

Tell me what you think about my OOTD and if you would want to see another one.

Wonder Woman Review…

Hi guys,

So I know, I know I haven’t posted on this blog for about a month! I did actually post something about my top 5 lush favourites but  somehow,  all of the picture and bits of the writing deleted. As you can guess… that sucked. But I realized what I accidentally did to delete everything so in a way it was good, because now it won’t happen again.

Just letting everybody know I am certainly not abandoning this blog, I just have been really really busy and when I did plant to post I had a horrible day of sickness.

I have always been planning to write a review and since I saw the movie Wonder Woman less than a week ago, I decided it would be a great time to write one…

First of all, the great thing about this movie is that it set DC (the company that created Batman, Superman and other superhero movies) on track after their recent films Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad were deemed ‘flops’ by movie critics. Believe me, as an avid DC fan it is so relieving to know that the company can still make correct marketing choices and decent content in their films.

The acting in the movie is also incredible, having an absolutely  stellar performance from the lead in the film, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and also Chris Pine (Steve Trevor). The acting is so realistic that you believe that there is a genuine relationship budding between the two protagonists. Even the side characters who play a less important role in the movie shine.

Also, I can not get over how amazing of a role model Wonder Woman is to young girls all around the globe. This superhero encourages them to always remember that they can be powerful and fierce and inspires them to unleash their inner warrior. Again, if it wasn’t for Gal Gadot than this film would never have had that type of impact.

Another interesting aspect of the film is that it actually focuses a lot on the origins of Wonder Woman.  I think is really great because it informs people about where she was born, how she grew up and why she became the iconic hero she is today. Her homeland is portrayed extremely brilliantly whether it is the intricate details on the Amazons shields or the colossal mountains of her home.  It is very hard to nail an ‘origin’ film as they are an easy target for harsh critiques and can often change up and make alterations to a backstory.

Oh and finally I have to mention how unlike a lot of superhero movies, there is a balance between fighting scenes and actual content. So many films these days are 95 percent action scenes and battles where only 5 % is the actual plot.

This movie is so touching, emotional, deep and resonating (with a touch of humor!)  and will stay with you forever after you watch it.  So be sure to check it out at your local cinema (no this is not a promotion).

Overall I believe this film was fantastic and I would definitely watch it again. I give the movie Wonder Woman 9 out of 10 stars!

P.S sorry I know this review was quite short and it is my first one ever so please take it easy on me, but tell me if there were any improvements I could make and what you think of the movie if you have seen it 🙂

Happy Easter Everyone

EASTER!!!!!!!! Its such a great time of year! I don’t just love Easter because of all the chocolate eggs but I love it as it is such a festive and joyous time for both my immediate and extended family.

Every Easter morning since I can remember, my brother and I would go on an Easter egg hunt around the house. We would scramble up our slippery, leather couch and try and climb the bookshelves desperately searching for those precious eggs. In my brother’s mind it was probably just fun and games but in my mind it was a competition! I always felt so proud when I had more eggs than him (which was often) and would constantly tease him that I had more chocolate to eat. This was ironic since I don’t even like chocolate and would always give all my eggs to my chocoholic  family.

Screen Shot 2017-04-15 at 9.18.37 pm.png

I would have to say one of my favourite Easter experiences at my home was when I was about 6 and I heard the loud, obnoxious noise of the door bell ringing. I walked to the door trying not to trip over my pyjamas that were a size too big for me and opened the door. Right in front of my eyes was a enormous golden chocolate egg nearly as tall as me! I stared in awe, my eyes getting larger by the second and then squealed at the top of my lungs. My family came rushing out of their rooms wondering what was wrong and when they saw the egg the all had the same look on their faces. I remember that Easter like it was yesterday and it is a precious memory I treasure close to my heart.

Screen Shot 2017-04-15 at 10.05.06 pm.png

Another great tradition in my family is going to my grandparents house with my many cousins, uncles and aunties for Easter Sunday Lunch (or I should say a feast!) All the cousins participate in ANOTHER easter egg hunt down my grandparents’ steep driveway and all the aunties and uncles watch us amused from the balcony above. We all laugh and cheer and the atmosphere is filled with happiness and contentment. We would then wearily try and make it back to the house, our cheeks bright red and breathing heavily because  we would be so tired from running around and picking up all the chocolate eggs.

Now here comes the best part…. the FEAST!!!! How to explain, how to explain? The feast we have at Easter and Christmas is so delicious and mouth -watering I cannot start to explain all the amazing food we all devour. There is fried rice, and perfectly cooked meat, and salad, and freshly baked bread rolls, and potato bake, and chicken,  and sushi and every other food you can imagine! Devouring this feast is probably my favourite thing to do on Easter and I am sure it is everyone elses. After Easter lunch, in the evening my family goes to mass with full stomachs and beaming smiles.

Screen Shot 2017-04-16 at 5.30.41 pm.png Screen Shot 2017-04-16 at 5.30.55 pm.png

Screen Shot 2017-04-16 at 5.38.42 pm.pngSomething I find funny is that even though I have my special little way of celebrating Easter with my family, I know that thousands of other families across the globe have their own traditions too. Like instead of searching for chocolate eggs people in Haux, France celebrate Easter by eating a giant omelette made from 4,500 eggs feeding 1,00 people!

Screen Shot 2017-04-15 at 10.14.46 pm.png

Also, people living in Corfu, Greece celebrate Easter  by smashing pots in the street outside their windows!

Screen Shot 2017-04-15 at 10.18.01 pm.png

I hope you all have an eggscellent (get it!) Easter and eat as much chocolate as you can!

Bichon Frise Puppies!

Hey everyone,

If you already know me, then you know I absolutely LOVE dogs. I just find them so adorable and cute and I literally melt whenever I see a puppy. Its been my lifelong dream to own a dog and when I was younger I used to research what breed I would get for hours on end. I even developed a mental list and believe me it went on and on!

So about a year ago when my grandmother announced that she would soon be getting TWO cute, fluffy, white Bichon Frise’s  I actually screamed. I was sooooo excited!!!!

Screen Shot 2017-04-13 at 11.25.07 am.png

The two puppies were named Lily and Lexus and they were more adorable then you can imagine! I loved watching them grow from tiny little puppies to fully grown gorgeous dogs.

Screen Shot 2017-04-13 at 11.18.37 am.png

About a year later, my grandma proudly announced that the female dog Lily was pregnant! The whole family was bursting with joy and happiness and we all started patting her and exclaiming that she was such a ‘good girl!’. It was so cute watching her gradually slow down from all the babies inside of her while Lexus was bounding along side Lily wondering why she wasn’t chasing him like she used to.

The SEVEN puppies (most bichons have 3-5 pups) were born on the 9/4/2017 and looked like long, white and pink sausages!  Lily was such a proud mum and even though she was exhausted, she continually made sure all her babies were safe. My grandma told me that once a pup couldn’t find a teat and then started to suck on its brother/sisters pink ear! How cute!

Screen Shot 2017-04-13 at 4.22.28 pm.png

P.S Ever since Lily gave birth she seems to love the camera and smiles when ever one is pointed at her!

How to Make Butterfly Cupcakes!!

Hello everyone,

Before I tell you how to make these mouth – watering cupcakes, I would like to assure you that no butterflies were harmed in the making of these cupcakes and blog. I absolutely love to cook and bake so a few days ago I didn’t really have anything to do, so I whipped out my old recipe book and decided to make butterfly cakes. I was a bit doubtful about making them at first since it was my first time making them and they looked so complicated but I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to make. Another amazing thing about these cupcakes is that I didn’t have to drive all the way to the shops to buy ingredients and then drive all the way back home because the ingredients are things that most people would have at home already. Ok, now I need to stop blabbering and actually tell you how to make these delectable cupcakes!

Screen Shot 2017-04-12 at 9.02.18 pm.png

Makes: 12                     Preparation: 20 min .                    Cooking: 25 mins

Ingredients you will need:

  • 125 g butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence or extract
  • 2 eggs (I always use free-range eggs because it makes me feel horrible thinking about those poor chickens being squished in cages for their eggs)
  • 1 3/4 cup self raising flour, sifted ( If you do not have any self raising flour then you can just use plain flour with a small amount of baking powder)
  • 1/2 cup Milk (I prefer and always use lite milk)
  • 300 ml thickened cream
  • Icing sugar
  • ( you will also need to have an electric beater)

Screen Shot 2017-04-12 at 9.32.04 pm.png

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius or 160 fan forced. Line a 12 hole muffin pan with paper cases
  2. In a large bowl, using an electric beater, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Then beat in vanilla extract/ essence
  3. Add in eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Fold in the flour alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the self raising flour.
  4. Spoon the mixture into paper cases until 2/3 full (this is because the mixture will rise in the oven)
  5. Bake the cupcakes for 20 – 25 minutes until cooked when tested (you can test the cupcakes by inserting a skewer and if it comes out clean then they are ready)
  6. Cool in pan for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely
  7. While the cupcakes are cooling, whip the cream and if you want a teaspoon of icing sugar on the highest speed in the electric beater
  8. Using a sharp knife carefully cut a circle from the top of each cupcake. Slice the circle in half to create two ‘wings’.
  9. Fill the cavities with the cream and then place the wings on top. Dust with icing sugar
  10. ENJOY!!!!

Screen Shot 2017-04-12 at 10.42.48 am.png

Top Tip!

These amazing butterfly cupcakes are better filled with cream when ready to eat!

I hope you try making these making these absolutely delicious cupcakes and I would love for you to share with me a picture of them if you do decide to make them.

My Current Fashion Favourites

Hello everyone,

For today’s blog I have decided to write about my Fashion Favourites. My fashion favourites are just different clothes that I am loving right now. I would recommend all these pieces of clothing to anyone who is interested. Hope you enjoy!

Long pant, Black Overalls/ Dungarees:

Right now I am in love with dungarees/ overalls and think that they should be a staple in everyone’s closet. They are extremely comfy and I love the texture of the denim in these ones especially. I also wear them because they are much more comfortable than jeans and are very good to keep warm when layered with a long sleeved tee.

Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 3.44.04 pm.png

Light maroon, long, fluffy cardigan:

From looking at my extremely messy cupboard, I can safely say that I have at least 4 different pieces of clothing made in this uber-comfy and cute material! I absolutely adore the pinky-red colour of this cardigan and think that it is a great length. It goes with nearly any outfit I wear and I always have to stop people from touching it!

Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 3.43.52 pm.png

Flowy, White blouse:

This white blouse is so flowy and light that you can barely feel it touching your skin. There are intricate designs on the top half of the blouse and because it is white, it is best styled with a bold colour. One of my favourite things about it is that even though it has buttons (I hate buttons by the way!) you don’t have to undo them because your head can fit through the neck hole.

Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 3.43.13 pm.png

Beige turtle neck:

I have to say that this beige, no sleeve turtleneck is one of my favourite tops ever because it is so snuggly and looks so stylish and grown up. The colour is drop-dead-gorgeous and the stitching is so intricate and well done. I pair this top with my black leggings and navy converse.

Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 4.14.34 pm.png

Embroidered Bomber Jacket:

When I first saw this jacket I was utterly speechless! Bomber jackets are the fashion trend right now and I am so glad I chose this one. It is a soft green shade and on both sides it has a colourful bird and beautiful flowers embroidered where the breast pocket would be. This jacket is my favourite clothing item of 2017 so far!!
